La Romana
La Romana is the 3rd largest city in the Dominican Republic, and is located in the eastern part of the island. It is a city rich in art and culture, and serves as home to the world renowned Altos de Chavon Cultural Center and Art School, whose architecture is a re-creation of a medieval European village, a must see for all visitors.
La Romana is named after a beautiful flower that grows in the region. Although this is very much a business and art town, it is also located close to many national parks, which makes it a very convenient place to find accommodations if one plans to explore the abundant ecological resources of region
The most famous nature attraction is Parque Nacional del Este, an immense nature reserve, which is home to the very popular Saona Island.
