San Pedro
San Pedro de Macoris was founded in the late 19th century by Cuban settlers fleeing their country’s war of Independence. They brought their knowledge of sugar cane to the island; soon the region became very productive and turned into one of the most promising cities in the Caribbean. Rich in culture, baseball, and old world traditions, San Pedro is almost a relic of the past, if not for its rapidly growing industrial sector.
