Santiago
Santiago is the second largest city in the Dominican Republic. Santiago, although big in size and development, is a very traditional city where people seem to care more about conserving the traditions of the country. It is located at the center of the country, inside the agriculturally rich Cibao Valley.
Santiago is the city with the least amount of unemployment, and a very diverse economical system. Its rum and tobacco industries have a supreme quality and undeniably compete in the most competitive world markets. It is not a coast town, but is home to beautiful mountains and just outside of town, you’ll find the 27 “charcos” or waterfalls, which are 27 natural waterfalls and slides, a sight definitely worth seeing and an experience worth living next time you visit the region.
